One of the privileges of public service for me is that I live and work in this community -- and have the opportunity to support local businesses and non-profit organizations. I consider it a privilege to attend the many community-focused events, meet the people who make Fremont what it is, and learn more about what engages and excites us.

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)

Free tax preparations offered by the City of Fremont Family Resource Center with 135 VITA volunteers giving more than 10,000 hours of time to help those in need claim their refunds and learn how to save. I was privileged to attend in support and celebration at the Appreciation Dinner to honor the VITA volunteers last night! I co-chaired this event with Herb Chiu, and co-Emceed with Fremont Mayor Lily Mei. Over 330 attendees raised money for Love and Second Chances for forever homes for dogs, and our own Fremont Police Department K-9 unit. I enjoyed participating in the CBC Spring Celebration Flash Mob to “Who Let the Dogs Out?” with Dirk Lorenz, Charles Liu, Steve Cho, Yang Shao, Gael Stewart, Lisa Lorenz, Mary Lynn Pelican, Lena Zee and Kathy Stahl Kimberlin, along with Phina Chen.
